Cystitis

Lower abdominal (usually suprapubic) pain

Increased frequency, burning on urination

**MCC = E.Coli**

Dx: Urinalysis, Urine culture to guide ABX regimen

 

Pyelonephritis

Ascending infection to the kidneys

Fever, flank pain, dysuria

+CVA tenderness & + WBC casts

Tx: Fluroquinolones or Aminoglycosides

 

Epididymitis and Orchitis

Scrotal pain, +/- fever, swelling

+Prehns sign

**MAGIC NUMBER IS 35**

>35 = E.coli is MCC

<35 = Chlamydia / Gonorrhea is MCC

Treatment based on age / appropriate organism

Prostatitis

Perineal pain, **BOGGY PROSTATE** on exam

<35 = Chlamydia / Gonorrhea is MCC
