Look for the the middle age / elderly patient who gets flushed constantly with triggers that include spicy foods, caffeine, hot showers, alcohol.

Treatment: Metrinidazole (Flagyl) Topical Cream

 

Folliculitis

Causative agent usually Staph Aureus.

Treatment:  Warm compresses. Topical creams second line if needed. Oral antibiotics if refractory

Look for the patient who gets in a hot tub and then develops folliculitis!!

*The causative agent in hot tub folliculitis = PSEUDOMONAS*
