Type 4 Hypersensitivity

Common causes include:

  • Chemicals (also Poison Ivy)
  • Detergents
  • Irritants

Tx: AVOID THE IRRITANT, topical steroids

Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)

Triggers include: sweat, allergens, irritants

Erythematous plaques/blisters that crust over and itch

**MC ON FLEXOR SURFACES** 

  • (Back of knees, elbow creases)

Tx: AVOID IRRITANT, emollients, topical steroids

(Common locations of eczema)

Lichen Planus

Purple, Polygonal, Planar, Pruritic, Papules

Tx: Topical steroids

Pityriasis Rosea

Unclear idiology but associated with Human Herpes Virus

***HERALD PATCH***

  • One patch raised with scaling then general oval papules across trunk
  • **Christmas tree pattern**
Tx: None, topical steroids or antihistamines for itching
